The Palace of Versailles reopened its doors this Saturday, October 21 afternoon, franceinfo learned from the Yvelines prefecture and the Palace of Versailles. A police operation took place, with the presence of deminers following an evacuation around midday after a new bomb threat.

This is the sixth evacuation of this type in a week, with 10 to 15,000 visitors flocking to the site every day.

Since the assassination of Professor Dominique Bernard on October 13 in a high school in Arras, false bomb threats have multiplied in airports, educational establishments and major cultural sites. To date, 22 investigations have been opened, announced Friday the Minister of Justice, Éric Dupond-Moretti, who speaks of “kids” who have not “no sense of responsibility”. “There have been arrests and there will obviously be convictions, we cannot let this happen,” warned the Minister of Justice, who recalled that the criminal sanction could be up to two years in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros and that it is the parents who will bear the financial consequences.

In a newspaper interview The Parisianthe Paris prosecutor added that from now on this type of act would henceforth be “considered as psychological violence against people with premeditation”, an offense punishable by three years of imprisonment and a fine of 45,000 euros.
