Six French on the courts

Six tricolors will play on Parisian clay on Monday, May 29. Kristina Mladenovic will open the ball against American Kayla Day. Her compatriot and seeded n°5, Caroline Garcia, will evolve on the Center Court against the Chinese Xiyu Wang. On the men’s side, Benoît Paire will be the first to step onto the Suzanne-Lenglen court against the No. 14 seed, Briton Cameron Norrie. In the last rotation, Arthur Fils and Alexandre Müller will also be opposed to seeds, respectively Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (seeded n°29) and Jannik Sinner (n°8). Luca Van Assche will face the Italian Marco Cecchinato on court 14.

The favorites enter the fray

This second day of this Roland-Garros 2023 will see the entry into the running of the two huge favorites in the men’s draw: Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz. The Serb, seeded n°3, will play in the second rotation on the Philippe-Chatrier court against the American Aleksandar Kovacevic. The Spaniard, seeded n°1, will enter the scene in the third rotation on the Suzanne-Lenglen court against the Italian Flavio Cobolli.

A mixed first day for the French

Of the ten Tricolores engaged, Sunday, Porte d’Auteuil, only four passed the pitfall of the first round: Lucas Pouille, Léolia Jeanjean, Corentin Moutet and Ugo Humbert. In addition, the last two cities emerged victorious from a Franco-French duel, respectively against Arthur Cazaux and Adrian Mannarino.
