The mountain returns to the Vuelta. The day after a flat stage won in a sprint Led by the young Czech Pavel Bittner (21 years old), the peloton sets off on the second steep route of this Tour of Spain, Thursday August 22, between Jerez de la Frontera and Yunquera, in the south of the country.
On the 185.5 kilometres of the course, the riders will start by climbing the Puerto del Boyar, classified in the first category. Winner on the wire of the third stage at Pico Villuercas, the Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe), currently wearing the red jersey, will have to be wary of the attacks of his main rivals in the general classification in the Alto de las Abejas (8.9 km at 3.9%), where the finish will be judged. The profile of the stage could also inspire the climbers in the peloton, who will try to collect points in the race for the polka dot jersey, currently dominated by the Belgian Sylvain Moniquet (Lotto-Dstny). The punchers could also be in sight with three third category climbs including the Alto de las Abejas.
