After accumulating a lot of plastic waste, from pockets or even traps, the oyster farmers of Bourcefranc-le-Chapus (Charente-Maritime) collect it so that it can be transformed and reused.

Pockets, traps, collectors, after a few years of service these plastic objects from the oyster farming sector end their life without a solution. As a result, the plastics pile up. A real ecological problem that affects the entire profession. To limit this problem, Charlotte Rhône has taken up her pilgrim’s staff to find solutions and give a second life to this plastic waste. Today they are collecting: “We will be able to collect everything that is hard plastic, except PVC”.

Then head to this start-up, located in the east of France. Here the waste is crushed, melted and then transformed into slabs. Built-in and resistant, they are used to cover parking spaces, as in Mulhouse. “It’s very easy to install. You have a space that will allow water to infiltrate in the event of heavy rain and therefore prevent flooding”, explains Pierre Quinonero, co-founder of Purple Alternative Surface. And that’s just the beginning. Eventually, professionals in the sector would like to recycle all of their plastic waste.
