Owner of a Honda car? You may receive compensation

Honda will pay up to $27 million to compensate owners who suffered delamination on their vehicles, that is peeling varnish and paint, as part of a class action settlement.

Eligible vehicles are 2006-2013 Civics and 2006-2011 Acura CSXs. The maximum amount owners can receive is $2,675.

Refurbishing a vehicle, however, costs between $6,000 and $8,000. According to the director of Fix Auto Sherbrooke, Francis Boulanger, several owners will take the check, but will not make the repairs.

Since the problem does not affect the reliability of the vehicle and does not increase its risk of rust, the problem is purely aesthetic. And owners have been living with an aesthetically disadvantaged vehicle for several years now.

Complaints that are difficult to understand

Compensation for loss on resale, reimbursement for repairs, compensatory indemnity: the compensation options are multiple and create confusion.

All information relating to complaints can be found on the web page of the law firm CBM et Associé (www.cblavocats.com). Eligible owners must make their claim by the end of March 2023 and can expect to receive their check no earlier than next summer, if not, fall 2023.
