After long and often heated debates in the National Assembly and then in the Senate, what does the purchasing power law planned by the government look like? Overview of the main measures.

For the purchasing power of the French, parliamentarians have recorded an envelope of 20 billion euros. First of all, there will be one-off aid, such as the exceptional back-to-school bonus of 100 euros for beneficiaries of social minima and the activity bonus, or even the Macron bonus, at the employer’s discretion, exempt from taxes, which can go up to 3,000 euros.

There will be no general wage increase. Retirement and disability pensions will be increased by 4%. The index point for civil servants will be increased by 3.5%, as will social benefits. But these provisions do not convince on the left. “People who are beneficiaries of social minima will have less purchasing power than at the start of inflation“, notes the deputy EELV-Nupes Sandrine Rousseau.
