Cadillac makes a stunning return to the French automotive market with the introduction of the Lyriq and its high-performance variant, the Lyriq-V. The Lyriq-V boasts dual electric motors producing 615 horsepower, allowing it to reach 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. While it shares the standard model’s battery, its range is reduced to 285 miles. With striking design features and luxurious interior upgrades, the Lyriq-V is priced at $79,000 and aims to compete with top electric SUVs.
Cadillac’s Thrilling Comeback with the Lyriq-V
After a lengthy absence from the French automotive scene, Cadillac is making a spectacular return with the launch of two exciting models. The first, the Lyriq, is already open for orders and was a highlight at the recent Paris Motor Show. Joining the Lyriq is its smaller counterpart, the Optiq, setting the stage for Cadillac’s revival.
Introducing the Powerful Lyriq-V
Cadillac is pushing the envelope with an even more exhilarating version known as the Lyriq-V. This powerhouse features dual electric motors, one for each axle, delivering a formidable 615 horsepower and 880 Nm of torque. With the innovative Velocity Max mode and Launch Control, the Lyriq-V can sprint from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in a blistering 3.3 seconds, showcasing its performance capabilities.
The standard Lyriq is already impressive, boasting 528 horsepower that propels it from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds, despite its hefty weight of 2.77 tons. However, the Lyriq-V aims to eclipse this with enhanced agility and road handling, complemented by new Brembo brakes on the front wheels, available with optional red calipers featuring the V-Series logo.
While the Lyriq-V retains the standard model’s 102 kWh battery with NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt) chemistry, its range takes a hit, now estimated at 285 miles (approximately 458 kilometers) according to the American EPA cycle. This figure is notably lower than the standard version’s range of 530 kilometers due to the performance enhancements.
Charging capabilities allow the Lyriq-V to achieve up to 80% in just 41 minutes with direct current, though this is less competitive compared to rivals like the Audi Q8 e-tron. The design of the Lyriq-V is equally striking, featuring unique side skirts, bumpers, and carbon fiber accents, along with a bold 22-inch wheel design and a new body color called “Magnus Metal Frost.”
Inside, the luxurious touch continues with exclusive Nappa leather for the seats and steering wheel, alongside V-Series logo adornments. The revamped 33-inch infotainment screen boasts fresh graphics, while passengers are treated to a powerful 23-speaker audio system. Additionally, drivers benefit from an augmented reality head-up display, enhancing the driving experience.
The Cadillac Lyriq-V is set to launch at a starting price of $79,000, with initial availability in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. However, Cadillac hints at potential expansion into European markets at a later stage. Production is slated to commence this year at the Spring Hill, Tennessee facility, positioning the Lyriq-V in competition with notable rivals such as the BMW iX M60 xDrive, Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV, and the Tesla Model X Plaid.
