“I remember” will lose the little meaning it still retained since the sanitized modernization of the premises and the recent development of beige rooms around the Blue Room of the National Assembly. Now that we want to redo this place so important in our history.
But what has become of these anchors in the history of Quebec, these places of power and debates of which the walls and furniture still spoke, after more than a hundred years?
Are we clumsy old nostalgics or simply citizens who still cling to what’s left of us?
With the rejuvenation work of the National Assembly, all these old memories, loaded with symbols, will be gone.
Those whose paintings and photos adorn the walls, who nevertheless proudly guarded our political history, will see the hubcaps of the site pass, no doubt with the pout of a soul in front of the turpitude of the body.
I remember… nothing.
