Outaouais: the search continues to find the missing kayaker

The search will resume Monday to try to find a kayaker missing since Saturday, in Lac-Sainte-Marie, in Outaouais.

The elderly man in his thirties was sailing with his wife on Lac Sainte-Marie, before disappearing around 6 p.m.

The police and firefighters notified by the victim’s wife began an evening search of the body of water, but to no avail. Only the kayak was found.

The search by nautical team ceased during the night, while patrollers were busy checking the banks, said Hélène St-Pierre of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The authorities are evaluating the personnel to be deployed to resume the search, while the day before two nautical boats were used.

An SQ helicopter was also mobilized on Sunday afternoon to fly over the body of water, it was added.
