(Montreal) A person who was riding alone on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) was taken to hospital in critical condition after deviating from his route Friday evening in Lac-Sainte-Marie, in the region of the Outaouais.

The event occurred around 8 p.m. on Lac-Sainte-Marie Road. According to information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the driver lost control of his vehicle for an unknown reason at the moment and he ended up in a ditch.
The man, whose age is not known at the moment, was transported to a hospital center and SQ sergeant Béatrice Dorsainville said late Friday evening that his state of health was still unstable.
A specialist collision investigator was dispatched to the scene of the accident to clarify the causes and circumstances that led to the swerve.
