Léon Deffontaines, head of the PCF list in the European elections, was invited to answer questions from viewers and Gilles Bornstein on the set of the interactive Franceinfo program “#OnVousRépond”, Friday April 5.
Asked about his position in relation to the situation in Ukraine, the member of the French Communist Party was keen to point out that he wanted “give Ukraine the means to defend itself”. He supports in particular the sending of planes to Ukraine, depending “Ukrainian needs.”
However, Léon Deffontaines’ objective is to bring the Ukrainians and Vladimir Putin back to the negotiating table. In order to achieve this, he proposes to guarantee that kyiv remains neutral, and that the country does not join NATO. In exchange, Ukraine would not have to cede parts of its territory such as Donbass.
