“Our Childhood Dreams” is a song by Jim Bauer co-composed with Jules Jaconelli. It was originally composed for Slimane’s second album, Jim had written it because he found himself in the singer’s long career and his perseverance. This one will wish to sing it for a while but will encourage Jim to keep it, an idea that the latter will keep in a corner of his head until finally finishing it and singing it a few years later.
This song deals with ambition and dreams which carry us from childhood but which can also make us a slave to them and put blinders on all the other wonders available to us, to the point of potentially making us miss the moment but also a different destiny that would perhaps be just as beautiful.
It’s a song that warns the double-edged role what can our dreams play in fulfilling ourselves and what can let time slip away faster than our eyes open.
