Ten years ago, singer Damien Robitaille and director Bruno Boulianne crossed the United States following the trail of the French-Canadian diaspora for a documentary entitled An American Dream.
Biz and Jean-Michel Dufaux draw a similar thread in Our American Dreamwhere they too follow in the footsteps of those among our ancestors who crossed the border in search of a better life and left their mark in the names of 5,000 towns and villages among our neighbors.
“Many giants of the past, whether they were coureurs des bois, artists or entrepreneurs, have contributed to shaping this country as we know it today. Not to mention the exile of nearly a million French speakers in search of work between the end of the 18th centurye and the beginning of the 19th centurye century,” they summarize.
Our American Dream is presented on September 23, at 8 p.m., on Télé-Québec.
