Ottawa to invest $120 million in semiconductor marketing

The Government of Canada has announced an investment of $120 million in the manufacturing and marketing of semiconductors.

The Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, François-Philippe Champagne, was in Montreal Thursday morning to announce the investment in a project of more than $220 million that will be led by CMC Microsystems.

According to a government press release, “this investment, made under the Strategic Innovation Fund, will support the creation of a pan-Canadian network of stakeholders from a wide range of fields, who will work on the design, manufacturing and commercialization of semiconductors and the development of advanced smart sensor technologies.”
