(Ottawa) The Ottawa Senators announced the appointment of Steve Staios as general manager and the addition of Dave Poulin as senior vice-president, hockey operations.
Michael Andlauer, owner of the Senators, confirmed these decisions in a press release issued early Sunday afternoon.
Incidentally, the Senators also announced that Ryan Bowness will now occupy the position of associate general manager. Bowness joined the Senators on July 5, 2022 as assistant general manager.
Both Poulin and Bowness will report to Staios.
On September 29, Staios joined the Senators in the role of president of hockey operations. 1er November, he was named interim general manager when the team and general manager Pierre Dorion agreed to end their association.
Originally from Timmins, Ontario, Poulin served as vice president of hockey operations with the Toronto Maple Leafs from 2009 to 2014. At that time, he was also the general manager of the Toronto Marlies, the Toronto Maple Leafs’ farm club. Maple Leafs in the American League.

Poulin played 12 seasons in the NHL with the Philadelphia Flyers, Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals. He played in 724 NHL games and amassed 530 points, including 205 goals.
In 1986-1987, he won the Frank Selke Trophy awarded to the striker displaying the best defensive qualities. At the end of the 1992-1993 season, he was awarded the King Clancy Trophy for his leadership qualities on and off the ice as well as for his humanitarian commitment in the community.
In addition to Dorion’s departure, almost two months ago, the Senators also fired head coach DJ Smith less than two weeks ago.
Veteran Jacques Martin took over behind the bench on an interim basis and Daniel Alfredsson, one of the great players in Senators history, joined Martin behind the bench as an assistant instructor.
