The new general manager and president of hockey operations of the Ottawa Senators, Steve Staios, wants to avoid working in silos, according to an article in Ottawa Sun.

The Senators also announced the hiring of Dave Poulin as senior vice-president of hockey operations, in addition to entrusting the position of associate general manager to Ryan Bowness. The two men will support Staios.

“It’s a collaborative approach,” Staios said a few hours before his team’s 5-1 victory against the Buffalo Sabres. In the past, that wasn’t often the case here.”

With the arrival of Staios, team president Michael Andlauer wants stability within the organization.

“I understand this team a lot better now,” Andlauer said. The Senators did not rhyme with the word stability. My New Year’s resolution, as we move into 2024, will be to make stability a part of our supporters’ vocabulary.”

“Steve has spent the last two months rolling up his sleeves, working diligently to better understand the needs of our team,” added the owner. He knows this team better than anyone.

Staios played 1001 matches in the Bettman circuit. According to TSN journalist Claire Hanna, he did not have a formal interview before being selected for the position. He previously held the position on an interim basis.
