Ottawa Senators | Assistant Coach Bob Jones has ALS

(Ottawa) Ottawa Senators assistant coach Bob Jones has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Jones, 53, is in his fourth season as an assistant coach with the Senators, having been hired by head coach DJ Smith on July 5, 2019.

He joined the Ottawa club after coaching in the American Hockey League and the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League (OHL) for more than 20 years.

Jones and his wife, Paige, have two children, Blake and Brianna.

The Senators confirmed the information Tuesday at the request of Jones’ family to raise awareness of the cause.

Jones’ family added that they would like those who are considering donating to the cause to do so to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Society of Canada or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
