An Ottawa judge is set to decide on Tuesday whether to grant bail to Tamara Lich, one of the main organizers of the protest against COVID-19 restrictions and the Liberal government, on Parliament Hill.
Tamara Lich, who was arrested last Thursday and charged with counseling to commit mischief, appeared before Ontario Court Judge Julie Bourgeois on Saturday at a bail hearing.
During this hearing, Tamara Lich promised to give up being a spokesperson for the protest and return to Alberta. The judge reserved her bail decision.
Patrick King, another prominent figure linked to the protests, is also due in Ottawa on Tuesday for a bail hearing.
Patrick King, 44, was arrested on Friday and faces charges of mischief, counseling others to commit mischief, disobeying a court order and counseling to obstruct work of the font.
Bail hearings are scheduled the day after the House of Commons voted in favor of the government’s use of the provisions of the Emergencies Act.
The Liberal government won the support of New Democrats to get the measures approved.
The Senate is due to begin its own debate on the subject on Tuesday.
Ottawa police said in a statement Monday that officers made 196 arrests, including 110 people who face various charges.
Ottawa police also said 115 vehicles linked to the protest were towed.
