Other festivals funded by Telefilm Canada

Telefilm Canada announced Thursday the second phase of its new film festival funding program. The organization is committed to distributing an additional $1.78 million to 19 Canadian film festivals, for a total of $3.46 million.


This second part includes festivals which will take place between 1er April and September 30, 2024. Among the 19 selected are the Sherbrooke World Cinema Festival, the Fantasia Festival, the Vues d’Afrique International Cinema Festival and the Quebec City Cinema Festival. Also on the list, the Les Percéides International Film and Art Festival and the Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival.

The first part of the program, announced in May, was intended for festivals taking place between 1er October 2023 and March 31, 2024. Twenty-five film festivals were granted funding, including the Festival du nouveau cinéma, the Montreal International Children’s Film Festival and the Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma.

This program, called Telefilm’s Medium and Large-Scale Festival Assistance Program, “aims to financially support Canadian film festivals established for several years which contribute to the promotion of Canadian films and talents and stimulate demand for content Canadian multiscreens”.
