Oscars 2022: Kristen Stewart wins her first nomination, Lady Gaga largely absent…

The American Academy of Cinema Arts and Sciences unveiled this Tuesday, February 8, the list of nominees for the 94th Academy Awards who will be in the running to win the legendary golden statuette (see 2021 winners).

The film The Power of the Dog by Jane Campion, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, leads the race with 12 nominations in total. Dark and psychological Western, The Power of the Dog is in particular in the running in the categories of best film, best director, best actor, best female supporting roles (Kirsten Dunst) and male. He is followed by Dunes (ten nominations), Belfast and West Side Story (seven nominations each).

In the category of best feature film, the comedy against a backdrop of the apocalypse Don’t Look Up: Cosmic Denial by Adam McKay with Leonardo DiCaprio will also fight for the award, as will the Japanese film Drive My car by Ryusuke Hamaguchi. Samuel L. Jackson will receive an honorary Oscar at the ceremony. Note also that actress Kristen Stewart won her first Oscar nomination thanks to her role as Diana in spencer. Conversely, Lady Gaga fans were furious that she wasn’t nominated for her role in House of Gucci
