Ten years after his debut on a mixtape and alongside established popstars, American singer with Colombian roots Kali Uchis has finally reached the top position in Billboard thanks to Orquideas, a fourth album of delightful maturity confirming that this voice is not just showing off. A real singer, Uchis (as Kaytranada understood, who recruited her for his great success 10%). She explores, from dance pop to cumbia, via reggaeton and reggae, while ensuring the cohesion of her project, which highlights her on the softest songs — starting with Te Mataa magnificent bolero, a traditional Cuban style that she had already tackled on her second album, Sin Miedo (2020). The purity of this voice, all the same! And again on the next one, Losera ballad with light new wave reflections which passes for a moment of contemplation before the infectious reggaeton burst on which El Alfa and JT collaborate (on Munekita), Karol G (Lips Mordidos) and Rauw Alejandro (No Hay Ley Part 2).
