Orlando, the singer’s brother, weighs in on the star’s secret romance with Alain Delon

The 70s were marked by many musical works. Michel Delpech pushed the young people to slum on his title “Pour Un Flirt”, Michel Sardou, for his part, was touched by “La Maladie d’amour” while Véronique Sanson had “Need no one”. Iconic titles that still resonate today. Among these emblematic songs, there is one that music lovers will probably never forget. A legendary hit born from the duo formed by Dalida and Alain Delon. IN 1973, the two stars had met in order to sing together “Words words”.

A beautiful meeting which Orlando, the brother of the singer who died in 1987, still remembers. At the time, it was thanks to him that the actor and the interpreter of the title “To die on stage” had the opportunity to collaborate. “I had heard it during a stay in Italy. In Italian, it was a song that served as the theme song for a variety show.he explains to the editorial staff of Télé Star. “As soon as I heard it, I thought it would be a good song for Dalida. I called the publisher to block the rights. I had Dalida listen to it. She was immediately enthusiastic and thought of Alain Delon”.

Very close, the two artists had managed to forge strong ties. “They had met in Paris, when they started out, in the mid-1950s. They occupied maids’ rooms on the same floor”. Love at first sight happened from the first meeting. During their years of friendship, the two stars even had the opportunity to live a short love story. “They met again in Rome around 1963-1964 and there was a story between them. I was not aware of their idyll, I only learned of it when the disc was recorded. It took place in November 1972 and it came out in February 1973”told Orlando to our colleagues.
