It is a 76-page digital document for all those who will travel to Qatar for the World Cup: the organizers of the World Cup published, Monday, November 14, the “official supporter’s guide” (PDF)which brings together a lot of useful information for those who will travel to the Middle Eastern emirate as part of the competition, from November 20 to December 18.

Beyond the elements on the location of stadiums, tourist attractions or transport, supporters who go there will find, for example, details on the consumption of alcohol on site. “Alcohol is not part of the local culture, but hospitality is”is it explained. “Alcohol is served at licensed restaurants, bars and hotels, and will be available at other venues during the tournament, including at the Fifa Fans’ Festival.” On the other hand, it will be prohibited to consume it “outside the areas provided for this purpose”.

While one of Qatar’s World Cup ambassadors said last week that homosexuality was a “mental deviance”the organizers want to highlight a country “relatively conservative but extremely welcoming. Everyone will be welcome, regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or nationality”is it written.

In the same way, in this country where homosexuality is illegal, it will be forbidden to “promote any political, offensive and/or discriminatory message”.
