A stifling heatwave is spreading across the country. The orange heatwave alert was extended to 45 departments on Sunday, August 11, and is taking over the majority of France.

A blazing sun beat down all day on Sunday, August 10 on the city of Lyon (Rhône). With temperatures approaching 40°C, everyone is adopting a miracle cure, swimming pool or cinema for example, to cool down. The most daring dare to stay outside, but on condition of carefully choosing their place in the shade, near the water or trees. With 38°C even in the shade, these cool spots are very popular with the inhabitants.

When dipping your feet in the fountain is no longer enough, families rush to the swimming pools to cool off their children. Behind closed shutters to protect themselves from the heat, nurses watch over the 83 residents of the nursing home, weakened by the heat. This heatwave should last at least until Monday, August 12.
