They are protesting against the Social Security budget which wants to impose 250 million euros in savings per year on them. To show their dissatisfaction, the biologists announce, Wednesday, October 26, that they will stop feeding the national file of Covid-19 screening tests (SI-DEP) from Thursday.

“Faced with the deafness of the public authorities, we have decided to suspend the transmission of screening data on the SI-DEP platform from October 27”, declares the president of the Alliance for medical biology, Alain Le Meur, to AFP. Patients will continue to receive their results, but “there will no longer be any possible follow-up of the epidemic”. Laboratories will no longer be reimbursed by health insurance, which represents a shortfall estimated at 14 million euros per week.

The profession thus intends “send a message” to the government. In its Social Security financing bill, the executive provides “a reduction in prices by decree” in the absence of a “deal with significant savings” before February 1, up to “of at least 250 million”. Before the Senate, the Minister of Public Accounts, Gabriel Attal, justified the measure by “an already high profitability before the crisis” and further increased by an increase of more than seven billion “of test-related revenue” for two years.

The biologists propose to limit the puncture to the single year 2023, under the profits of the Covid-19. “Ok for an exceptional contribution, but not for a totally blind plane”summarized Alain LeMeur, who warns that biologists are “able to go further”until “a strike if the government does not [les] not include”.
