Cillian Murphy and Matt Damon star in new trailer for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming biographical drama, Oppenheimerwhich was unveiled on Monday and reveals more details about the story and characters.
The clip shows scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy) teaming up with General Leslie Groves Jr. (Matt Damon) to assemble a team of scientists during World War II, when nuclear power stands as the only way to defeat the Nazis.
The drama follows Oppenheimer, known as the “Father of the Atomic Bomb,” at a pivotal moment in history — since he knew testing the atomic bomb could destroy the world. “You’re the man who gave them the power to destroy themselves…and the world isn’t prepared for that,” Oppenheimer says in the trailer.
Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Benny Safdie and Josh Hartnett also star in the film, which is Christopher Nolan’s first since the release of tenetin 2020.
The theatrical release is scheduled for July 21.
