I understand Mr. Lisée’s exasperation with Mrs.me Butin. But the democratic contract goes a little further. For example, Éric Caire had made a solemn commitment regarding the third link, and he did not respect it. That too feeds the skepticism of citizens. Mr. Lisée’s proposal seems to me to encourage this unacceptable behavior. But there is worse with these proposals.
If the rules he proposes had been in force in 1984 during the beautiful risk, the deputies who resigned from the PQ would have been deprived of their voting rights for twenty-five years, and Jacques Parizeau would never have been able to become leader of the PQ and premier of Quebec. The remedy proposed by M. Lisée seems to me worse than the disease!
