General de Gaulle had not withdrawn from NATO for nothing in 1966. This great man was well aware of the trap that this organization constitutes. He saw that this was just another way for the Americans to expand their hegemony over the world and a golden opportunity to sell even more weapons. Just look at the pressure Canada is under to spend 2% of its GDP on its military. It’s easy to say for the United States, which prioritizes its military so much, but it also comes at the expense of social services. Here, we prefer to pay for universal health insurance, among other things! […]
Currently, against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine, NATO is the star of the hour, while Macron, the French president, declared it brain dead in 2019. It is now thought to expand it to Sweden and then, after the war, to Ukraine, in an accelerated process and with lower requirements. But are we aware of the danger that this represents for world peace? The famous article 5 specifies that an attacked State renders de facto all the other members attacked as directly and therefore in solidarity and having to run to its defence. Isn’t that madness? Do we want, without real debate, to automatically fall into world war against Russia or China? For the moment, we are content to give arms to Ukraine, but tomorrow?
I am convinced that, on the contrary, we must negotiate with Russia and put an end to this war madness. Let’s not forget that Putin is a madman with atomic weapons. Rather, the dismantling of NATO must be offered in exchange for peace. As we had promised to do after the end of the Warsaw Pact. It’s not nice, but Putin, as obnoxious as he is, must be able to back down without losing face. He must be given the opportunity to step down and end the fighting with victory in his eyes. Is this a cynical attitude? Of course, but isn’t that international diplomacy? We discuss well with China, Saudi Arabia and how many other dictatorships! Is the fate of the Uighurs more enviable than that of the Ukrainians? However, we let China do its genocide! Why a different fate between the two peoples? […]
And what the United States avoids telling us about is, of course, their own situation. These are led by an almost cacochymal octogenarian, but what would happen in 2024 if Trump returned to power? Would he stop all aid to Ukraine to remain neutral against his friend Putin who would then win easily? In short, we must dismantle NATO rather than expand it for the security of the world. Let’s not be naive in the face of the current hypocrisy while remaining in solidarity with Ukraine! Meanwhile, children are dying and time is running out!
