Our population, we see it more than ever in this period of inflationary crisis, asks in priority for affordable housing as well as basic foodstuffs at an adequate price to feed themselves properly and thus maintain good living conditions.
No society, especially rich like ours, can deprive itself of feeding or housing its citizens adequately, and that, without taking advantage of it improperly, because these are essential survival conditions for the human race, the basic needs that every State must ensure that it is satisfied. One wonders how we arrived in our North American society, specifically in Canada and Quebec, to speculate in this way on the hunger of the population and its need for a roof to live on.
A financial speculation that too often receives praise from the political sphere, including the Coalition avenir Québec, and which remains the fact of the current economic culture, i.e. a frantic race for profits, regardless of its negative effects, and which seems in our society materialism shared by the majority. Do we really have a choice, modern slaves of work and human resources, to float in this materialism and this blind capitalist of our societies? The state, its leaders and its politicians must first serve the citizens in their most important common needs and impose here a response to the economic laissez-faire of the corporations which speculate excessively on hunger and on our roof.
