Ophelie Meunier placed under police surveillance following the broadcast of the report on Islamism

The program Zone Interdite is an information magazine known for evoking, among other things, the phenomena of French society. In the last issue, Nicolas de Tavernos, chairman of the board and his team decided to focus on radical Islam in the city of Roubaix.

At the same time, when the future broadcast was announced, presenter Ophélie Meunier received numerous death threats, which is why the latter claims to have taken the necessary measures upstream: “I asked if we had the guarantees, if it was an extremist program in quotation marks, I asked if the presenter was protected. I asked if the witnesses who spoke were well blurred etc… I does the job that I feel I have to do on a program for which the decision is ultimately mine. I claim to have authorized this program. But because I was asked to. We could have taken the opposite decision. I consider it my duty of responsibility: if you call it interference, I call it the exercise of my profession.” Immediate consequences

The Forbidden Zone investigation has generated a lot of reactions. The latter led by order of the prefecture the closure of a restaurant. In this one, to eat, the women were isolated in what could be likened to a box… Faced with the scale of the controversy, Ophélie Meunier, who has just become a mother for the second time, was placed under police surveillance to ensure his safety.

As a reminder, in 2013 Ophélie Meunier hosted “La minute Pop” in the program at the time presented by Yann Barthès on Canal +. On the same channel, in 2015, she took control of the evening and morning television news. Since 2016, the latter presents the news magazine in the first part of the evening. The ex-model took over from journalist Wendy Bouchard at the head of the show.
