Doctors Claire and Thierry Lemoine will cease their activity on June 10, 2022. And on this date, Cerisy-la-Forêt will no longer have doctors on its territory.
The municipality therefore posted a video of just over 3 minutes on its Facebook page on January 8 to praise the qualities of its village, whether it is shops, schools and services such as the pharmacy, nurses or home. of retirement.
The images also show the quality of life of this rural area, its history on the edge of the forest close to the big cities and the sea.
But this town is not the only one looking for new general practitioners in the Channel. This is the case of its neighbors of Saint-Jean-de-Day, Saint-Clair-sur-Elle or Balleroy on the Calvados side. “Within a radius of 30 kilometers, we have almost no more generalists”, laments the mayor. “We must therefore succeed in attracting new practitioners thanks to the equipment of the municipality such as its health center and financial aid for installation”, specifies the elected official. On the other hand, he is against the principle of salaried doctors because it would cost communities too much. “Unless it’s the department that does it like in Saône et Loire”, adds Jean-Pierre Ledouit.
Manuel Humbert, the town’s pharmacist, hopes that this video will be seen by doctors in large cities. “After the first confinement, many people wanted a change of scenery. So I hope that doctors will be seduced by this territory where everyone is involved”, explains the pharmacist.
The video ends with the invitation of the mayor, Jean-Pierre Ledouit, to come and settle in his territory. The mayor concludes by giving his telephone number to respond to future candidates.
