“Operation Blacklight”: Liam Neeson is tired … and so are we

The sexagenarian (almost) the sexiest of the big screen unfortunately returns for yet another soulless action film.

Travis Block (Liam Neeson) works with the FBI, which regularly tasks him with illegal and clandestine missions, including recovering undercover agents. Our man therefore knows a lot about the unsavory and highly secretive actions of the government.

His boss, Robinson (Aidan Quinn, the film’s other 60-year-old who is still very handsome, it must be admitted) is a little suspicious and begins to order the execution of apparently ordinary and apparently innocent citizens. The blood of Travis Block is therefore only one turn and he makes every effort to unmask these secret actions known as Operation Unity. He gets help from Mira Jones (Emmy Raver-Lampman), a fearless investigative reporter.

Unfortunately, and since we’re in an action movie starring Liam Neeson, he’s now a grandfather and his daughter and granddaughter soon come under fire… what if, it looks like a straight-up plot release of “The Abduction”.

And the whole problem of “Operation Blacklight” is there. Mark Williams’ film offers nothing that we haven’t already seen. The filmmaker may have worked with Neeson very regularly and in particular for “An honest thief”, this feature film drags on. The situations are recycling, the stunts are sluggish and you can’t suppress the yawns throughout this 104-minute pensum.
