The wall on the facade of 5 bis rue de Verneuil in Paris has been, for 30 years, the point of meditation and expression for fans of Serge Gainsbourg. His home will be accessible to the public from Wednesday September 20. The artist’s followers will be able to discover his crazy objects there.
For Charlotte Gainsbourg, 5 bis rue de Verneuil in Paris has long remained a painful memory, linked to the death of her father. This is where she grew up, sometimes under the intrusive gaze of the cameras. 50 years later, she made an old dream come true: opening this house to the public. “It was already a museum. I didn’t touch anything, move anything. It’s a modest place”, assures the actress and singer. She decided. There will be no cameras. Only visitors will be able to enter the musician’s privacy and this house.
A bar and a museum
In this setting, we find a multitude of objects of all kinds, such as a strange spider. Wednesday September 20, 30 meters from his house, a second place will also open its doors: Gainsbar. “We came to look for all these little details to ensure that the experience feels like an extension”, explains Anatole Maggiar, director of content and programming at Maison Gainsbourg. Upstairs will be the museum with 450 objects from the Gainsbourg collection.
