A historic trial opened in Stuttgart, Germany, on Monday April 29. Nine people are on trial. This is only the first trial out of three which will concern the movement called “Reichsbürger”, which wanted to overthrow the current power, in the coming months.

A highly anticipated trial in Germany opened Monday April 29 at the Stuttgart court. Nine people will be tried over several months, but this is only the first of three trials to be held in the country. All will concern the same extremist group dismantled at the end of 2022. Its objective was to overthrow the current power to restore the old German empire by force, and place at the head of the country a septuagenarian aristocrat named “Heinrich XIII”, called also “Prince Reuss”.

The alleged mastermind tried from May 21

The movement called “Reichsbürger”, which means “citizens of the Reich”, wanted to invade the German Parliament to overthrow the government. Appearing in the 1980s, the small group was structured from July 2021 with a political and military organization. Heinrich XIII is not concerned by the first trial which began on Monday. For the moment, these are members of the military branch of the movement. The alleged mastermind of this organization will be tried from May 21 in Frankfurt. The third and final trial will begin almost a month later, on June 18 in Munich.
