Gabriel Attal visited, Monday April 22 in Nice, an educational boarding school, designed to accommodate minors considered to be on the verge of delinquency during the school holidays.
The suitcase is full, and two students are going to spend their school holidays at a boarding school in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes). For this so-called remobilization stay, children and parents must be volunteers. “So that they can have values in terms of responsibilities and daily life”, justifies the mother of the two students. Workshops, outings, but also support and civic education courses are on the program. 20 young people aged 13 to 16 inaugurate this new system against dropping out of school.
Union reservations
The young people will sometimes be supervised by teachers, educators and gendarmes, a cure of authority desired by the Prime Minister. Some unions are quite reserved. “It’s difficult to imagine profoundly changing a young person’s behavior and relationship with school in two weeks. You have to work on the content, but it seems a little complicated”, comments Bruno Bobkiewicz, the general secretary of SNPDEN (National Union of National Education Management Personnel). Ultimately, Gabriel Attal wants to see one educational boarding school per department during school holidays.
