Opening | Ciccio’s: Italian sandwich shop in Old Montreal

A little hungry in the Old Town? Ciccio’s, a new little Italian sandwich shop, located on rue Saint-Nicolas, offers a nice variety of classic Italian sandwiches, in a nostalgic decor.

We are not reinventing the wheel here. We serve sandwiches with prosciutto (tomato, mozza and pesto), turkey (mozza, bacon, tomato, lettuce), etc.

The concept: “Beautiful, good, inexpensive,” sums up co-owner Gian Paolo of Riggi, who also signs the orange and nicely retro design of the snack bar (with ADR design studio, a family design company).

  • Also on the menu: salads.

Note that the bread, well honeycombed yet nourishing, halfway between a baguette and ciabatta, was specially designed by the Forno West bakery (in Westmount), to which we also owe the tiramisu offered for dessert.

Classic antipasti platters (marinated olives, mortadella, artichokes) and a few salads complete the menu, which can be eaten on site (at the counter or the only table with two small benches) or to take away.

To wash it all down, we serve Italian drinks here (limonata, aranciata, etc.), beers and wines (to take away only) with, of course, and to round it all off, a small espresso, doppio, piccolo (the cortado n doesn’t exist in Italy, did you know that?), or why not, a pistaccino, delicious mocha with pistachio cream!

Sandwiches starting at $12. Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday to Saturday.
