Opening | Caron & Frères moves to Knowlton

Looking back, it took guts to open a specialty café in Little Italy, on Bélanger Street. A year later, brothers Simon-Pierre and Xavier-Bernard Caron already have a second branch, but 110 kilometers further, in the Eastern Townships, in Knowlton.

Caron & Frères occupies the space of the former Bolt café, opened in 2021 by a couple who decided to pass the torch. “A friend who lives in Knowlton bought the building and suggested we take the plunge,” says Simon-Pierre Caron.

He and his brother (formerly from Gamba) hesitated, but a few visits to the charming village overlooking Brome Lake were enough to convince them. “There is a great community spirit and we feel really welcome. »

When we visited over Thanksgiving weekend, customers were flocking. We liked the fact that coffee is free with the purchase of a bag of beans (from six roasters, including Yamabiko from Sutton)as is the selection of privately imported wines (to be enjoyed by the glass or later with a bottle to take away).

For the rest, pastries, soups, sandwiches and possibly salads can be enjoyed on site. The space has around twenty seats and a beautiful terrace. If the cycling season is coming to an end, we’re already looking forward to après-ski!
