Open war between bikers and street gangs | Police reinforcements will converge on Quebec

Reinforcements are arriving. The Sûreté du Québec will announce this Friday the mobilization of police officers from the metropolitan region and elsewhere who will converge on the National Capital to support the fight against the increase in violence caused by a war between bikers and local street gangs. Specialized investigators from the Montreal police will be there.

The conflict between criminal groups in the Quebec region has led to murders, attempted murders and arson in recent months. Recently, videos have started circulating in which people are literally tortured and forced to denounce bikers on camera.

According to what has been learned The Press, investigators from the Sûreté du Québec established in Greater Montreal will lend a hand to their colleagues in the Quebec region who currently have their hands full. Mixed squads which include members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) and other municipal police forces, such as those of Laval and Longueuil, will also be called upon to provide a help. This is particularly the case of the National Organized Crime Suppression Squad and the Integrated Firearms Trafficking Team.

External police officers will not necessarily settle in Quebec for long periods, but will travel back and forth for blitz operations.

According to several sources who were not authorized to speak publicly before the official announcement of the plan this Friday, outside investigators could notably help develop informants within criminal circles, participate in bar crawls and other gathering places and support visibility operations and targeted visits to criminal group actors involved in recent clashes.

Cocaine supply

The war raging in the Capitale-Nationale region pits Hells Angels from Quebec against an independent trafficker nicknamed Dave “Pic” Turmel. The latter has reportedly refused since the pandemic to obtain cocaine supplies from the Hells Angels, thus depriving bikers of an important source of income. “Pic”, who would be a member of a gang called “Blood Family Mafia” and would have links with street gangs of “red” allegiance and would now buy drugs from Montreal street gangs.

According to our information, Turmel has heard that there is a price on his head. He left the country and continued to run his business from abroad. He is wanted by the Quebec City Police Department, which arrested several of his collaborators last summer.
