Open or closed for Christmas?

Will the shopping centers be open on Boxing Day? What about transport services and banks? Press has prepared a list of establishments and services that will open their doors between December 24 and 26.

December 24

On New Years Eve, malls, most boutiques, grocery stores and drugstores open, as do restaurants and gas stations.

SAQ Express branches will be open until 7 p.m., while other stores will be open until 5 p.m. As for the SQDC, branches will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In Montreal, the Biodome, the Biosphere, the greenhouses of the Botanical Garden and the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium will be closed for an indefinite period, due to the sanitary situation.

Most municipal offices are closing their doors for the holiday season, as are the city’s eco-centers.

December 25th

Big box stores and grocery stores are closing, with the exception of essential businesses such as pharmacies, convenience stores and some small grocery stores. The branches of the SAQ will be closed, as will those of the SQDC. Restaurants can open for December 25.

For December 25 and 26, the STM network operates according to the statutory holiday schedule.

Banks and cash registers will not be open on Saturday and Sunday. Public holidays will therefore be moved to Monday December 27 and Tuesday December 28 for financial institutions.

December 26

Stores open on December 26, most between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

All SAQ branches will be open from 1 p.m. and will close at regular hours. Same scenario for the SQDC branches.
