Already accused of kidnapping

Last April, Shichao Dong had already been charged in another crime involving the abduction of a woman to repay a sum lost in gambling.

The victim had been found in a hotel in Markham by the police, in the company of Mr. Dong and two other people, arrested on the spot. During this intervention, it was the Montreal police who alerted the local authorities to the possible abduction of the woman, according to the local media Durham Radio News.

Mr. Dong was charged with, among other things, kidnapping, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and careless use of a firearm.
