Logan Mailloux is on the right track, judges the Ontario Junior League (OHL). The Tour announced on Wednesday that the Canadiens’ hopeful suspension will end on 1er January.
He will therefore have missed the first 26 games of the London Knights season.
Mailloux had been suspended by the OHL since the start of the season due to a crime he committed in November 2020 in Sweden, when playing for SK Lejon. The Ontarian, who was 17 at the time of the crime, had photographed his sexual partner without his consent. He then distributed the snapshot and revealed the identity of the young woman to his teammates. Swedish justice had fined him $ 2,000.
At the time of his suspension, on September 2, the Ontario circuit had indicated that the decision to reinstate him or not as of the 1er January would be taken into account “his conduct since returning to Canada and the appropriate treatment, assistance, mentorship and education he will have received by then.”
In its press release released late Wednesday afternoon, the OHL mentions that since his suspension, Mailloux has taken part, with the support of the London Knights, in therapy with the Dr Lindsey Forbes as well as a development plan under the tutelage of Wendy Glover, an athlete development practitioner, school and personal development consultant, teacher and member of the Ontario School Counselors Association.
“The player’s personal development plan has included weekly meetings, the ongoing completion of certifications and reflections on the concepts explored,” it is noted.
The advocate has completed certifications and programs for athletes covering respect, mental health and ethics in sport, sports media, diversity and inclusion, sports psychology and cultural awareness.
“After reviewing the program, discussing with the player and Mme Glover and received the player’s commitment to continue his personal development program, the League is satisfied and believes that Logan Mailloux has taken the necessary steps, ”adds one.
Contacted by Press, the London Knights responded by email only to the news, saying the team had “worked closely with the OHL on Logan’s personal development.” We support the League’s decision and will continue to work with them and Logan for the future ”.
She also advised that Mailloux was “unavailable” and would not be giving interviews.
The Canadian selected Mailloux in the 1er round (31e overall) in the 2021 draft.
