Jehad Abu Hassan, Franco-Palestinian refugee, is interviewed by 12/13 info, Tuesday March 5. He left the Gaza Strip in November 2023, worried for his family’s safety.
In Gaza, a ceasefire should be announced before the start of Ramadan on March 10. Jehad Abu Hassan is a Franco-Palestinian refugee who arrived in France on November 10 with his wife and three children. He had to leave Gaza overnight. Questioned by 12/13 info, Tuesday March 5, the man explains that he was born in Gaza, studied in France before working in the humanitarian sector. “I made my life there, I got married, I had children. From one day to the next, I was forced to leave”regrets Jehad Abu Hassan.
“An intolerable situation” in Gaza
Thanks to his Franco-Palestinian nationality, he was helped by the Consulate General of France in Jerusalem and by the French Embassy. “What really pushed me to come here was above all for the safety of my children and the family”, he elaborates. Some members of his family, two sisters and a brother, are still in Gaza. “They are living an intolerable situation”explains Jehad Abu Hassan.
Food has become overpriced. “Only humanitarian aid can help people survive, especially in the north of the Gaza Strip”, he adds. Jehad Abu Hassan hopes for a ceasefire as soon as possible. In Gaza, “everything was destroyed, the infrastructure, more than 50% of the houses, it’s catastrophic in fact”he concludes.
