Online booking | Parks Canada says its new system is working well

(Calgary) Parks Canada says its new online reservation system for campsites and other activities in national parks appears to have worked well in its first week of use.

The website was recently updated to fix an older site that was prone to computer crashes and general technical glitches.

The new system allows reservations from various dates, from mid-March to mid-April, for each national park, historic site and marine conservation area, which are listed on the Parks Canada website.

Reservations began last week in Quebec, in most national parks in the Atlantic provinces, in British Columbia and for Jasper National Park in Alberta. Reservations for Ontario sites opened on Tuesday.

Camping reservations at Parks Canada’s most coveted location – Banff National Park, Alberta – opened Thursday morning. Shuttle reservations to visit the park’s popular Moraine and Louise lakes will begin April 13.

Parks Canada says it has received generally positive user feedback so far. A dissatisfaction seems to stem from the fact that people cannot get their first choice of camping or dates at popular sites – which is not unusual, recalls Parks Canada.
