Around fifty firefighters are on site, accompanied by dog ​​teams, to ensure that no victim is trapped in the rubble of a building, which had previously been emptied of its occupants.

Research in progress. A building in the historic center of Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) collapsed on the night of Friday March 8 to Saturday March 9. “Fortunately, no casualties have been reported. Our teams are supporting the victims”, wrote on the social network X, the mayor of the city Jean-Luc Mouden. The emergency services, around fifty firefighters, accompanied by dog ​​teams, have been at work since Saturday morning to ensure that no victim is trapped in the rubble of this building which had previously been emptied of its occupants. This three-story building on rue Saint-Rome, a tower near the famous Toulouse Capitol, had, in fact, been evacuated on Tuesday following a first “interior wall collapse”had affirmed the SDIS.

After this immediate evacuation of the inhabitants, a “significant crack” had been detected by “building risk specialists”, and it was initially planned that the building would benefit from shoring carried out by a private company, according to the SDIS. In total, the emergency services evacuated 23 people living in adjoining buildings, the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) of Haute-Garonne told the press. “The risk of collapse of other parts of the building has not been ruled out for the moment”writes France Bleu Occitanie.
