On October 29, 2020, a terrorist killed three people in the basilica of Notre-Dame de Nice, in the Alpes-Maritimes. A year later, the city pays tribute to the victims.
Roses and a dove of peace lie in front of the Notre-Dame basilica in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes). One year after the attack which affected the basilica and caused three victims, the residents are still marked by this sad event. “I have a lot of sorrow, it is absolutely unthinkable, unacceptable, that one can kill someone while he is praying”, declares a woman. For politicians and the people of Nice, it is a moment of solemn contemplation.
It was a year ago: a Tunisian terrorist, Brahim Aouissaoui, entered the basilica and killed three people. The husband of Nadine Devillers, one of the three victims of the terrorist keeps a sad memory of this tragic day. “I’m trying to reach Nadine, I waited 2 p.m. to call the places where she had an appointment. When the first at 9 a.m. told me that she never came, I immediately understood”, testifies Joffrey Devillers. A man who does not want to live in hatred.
