In Iran, the police are on guard as the one year mark approaches since the death of Mahsa Amini for wearing her hair veil incorrectly.

A year later, despite the danger, the Iranians are not disarming. Contacted by France Télévisions, a young Iranian woman uses strong words: “in two days it’s my birthday Mahsah and many other victims. I wanted to tell you that our revolution is still alive (…) it is not only for the hijab that we are fighting, but for our freedom and our rights of which we have been deprived for 40 years.”

A poorly worn veil

The historic anger followed the death of a 22-year-old Iranian-Kurdish woman. She was arrested for breaking the dress code when she let her hair stick out from her scarf. For months, Iranians have defied power in the name of the slogan: Women, life, freedom. Protests have been violently suppressed over the past year.
