They became known in the 90s with their hits “The anthem of our campaigns”“sorry for last night” Or “The green hand“, and like many artists (we think in particular of Kyo or Emma Daumas, very recently), it was their birthday that brought Tryo back to the forefront… But not for long.
“A big break, with no defined return date”
Remember, Guizmo, Christophe Mali, Manu Eveno (who left the group in 2021) and Daniel Bravo released in 2020 for their 25th career a surprise double album of 21 tracks, entitled “XXV” and composed of collaborations with Zaz, Véronique Sanson or Bigflo & Oli. After an event concert at the Accor Arena in May 2022, it’s already time for Tryo’s break…
This is what the Parisian Christophe Mali: “We toured for three years, we set up an independent label, we gave well together, we had a common desire to take another break (…) Tryo is taking a big break, with no defined return date”. The one who will leave solo for a tour in 2025 to declare: “Daniel has left Paris, Guizmo has personal projects”. In fact, he defends: “The longevity of a group is also individual freedom.”
“I go back to zero”
Eighteen years after a first album, he is preparing a second, “Human” for fall 2024. He confesses about this choice: “I had things that were too intimate to say, that I really couldn’t sing in Tryo (…) I’m starting from scratch. When I found myself with my songs, I started looking for a label, a tour manager, a manager. Even though I had a bit of baggage and travel, I was a little dizzy at first. But I’m excited like I’m starting.”
