The eviction of three candidates from the star Academy has “twelve days from launch” of the program, next Saturday, November 4 on TF1, is not without damage… As Thomas (his first name has been changed) confided to Sud Radio in the show of Valérie Expert and Gilles Ganzmann this Monday, October 30 2023, another candidate who was also fired would have a very difficult time with the situationand would be in a worrying psychological statewhich would have even come back to the ears of the production, and the psychologist of the Star Academy…
“I know another candidate. He is worse off than me, the person is younger, she was really counting on that, She’s been in her bed for a week and she doesn’t even want to talk to her parents. The psychologist of the star Academy must contact us again and if necessary initiate follow-up” confided the young man, who, like his colleague, also learned of being fired. Thomas, however, does not know the third person fired by TF1 at the last minute, and therefore ignores the state she is in now.
“I have never been confronted with such powerful violence”
Thomas remains in shock. A few days after hearing the news, the young man struggles to mask his anger and sadness: “12 days before the launch of the first prime, they suddenly announced to me that for budgetary reasons, they had to reduce the number of weeks of broadcast, going from 13 to 11 weeks, and therefore naturally reduce the number of candidates, and going from 16 to 13 I am no longer part of the Star Academy (…) Everything collapses in a fraction of seconds. All my dreams are crushed. You have to understand that it’s a really very trying casting, since May 3, I’ve been thinking Star Ac, I’m living Star Ac, I’m dreaming Star Ac, and it’s a long casting, physically and psychologically demanding (… ) I have never been confronted with such powerful violence“ confided the apprentice singer who will not have the chance to meet Michael Goldman and Adeline Tonuiti…
Three reasons for last-minute budget cuts
The reasons given to him by the production and the broadcaster seem unclear: according to him, three areas were highlighted by TF1, pointing to last minute budgetary restrictions. Thus, according to Thomas, “France’s defeat at the Rugby World Cup” already done “(lose) a lot of money (at TF1) compared to advertising revenue”. The young man also claims that the arrival “a new show (…) in the coming months (…) costs them a lot of money”. He inevitably speaks of Secret Story, whose return was made official this Friday, October 27 by TF1 on social networks. Finally, the young man raised an important and more credible point than the first two: “The political context we are experiencing in Israel and Palestine which supposedly reduces advertising revenue for broadcasters”.
