After two stages with very rugged profiles in the Massif Central, won by Michael Woods (Israel-Premier Tech) and Pello Bilbao (Bahrain Victorious), the Tour de France peloton should slow down. While waiting for the alpine triptych of this weekend, the organizers remained lenient for this 11th stage, Wednesday July 12, from Clermont-Ferrand.

179.8 kilometers long, the route includes three listed climbs: the Chaptuzat-Haut coast (4th category, 1.9 km at 5%), the Mercurol coast (4th category, 2.9 km at 4.6% ) and the Côte de la Croix Blanche (4th category, 1.6 km at 5.4%). Despite these three “breaking” climbs, the best sprinters of the peloton will be expected in Moulins, after an unprecedented finish on the Grande Boucle.

Already crowned with three massive sprints out of the four disputed, the green jersey Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceunink) will inevitably be at the center of attention. Behind, Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek), the only rider to have taken over the Belgian, Caleb Ewan (Lotto Dstny), Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain-Victorious), Fabio Jakobsen (Soudal-Quick Step) or the Frenchman Bryan Coquard (Cofidis) could do well.
