A cannabis user was targeted along with another individual on Saturday evening in Fontaine by two people in a car who opened fire with a “Kalashnikov-type” rifle.

One of the two men injured on Saturday evening during a shootout in the Grenoble metropolitan area (Isère), in Fontaine, died on Sunday evening from his injuries, the Grenoble prosecutor said on Monday, September 16. Éric Vaillant specified that he was the 31-year-old Italian cannabis user, whose life was in danger on Saturday evening. Injured by a bullet in the head, he had been rushed to the Grenoble University Hospital. He was pronounced dead at around 11 p.m. at the hospital on Sunday.

Another individual, aged 31, was also injured, grazed in the back by a bullet. He is known to the police for insults, violence and drug use, specifies the Grenoble prosecutor’s office. The two men were targeted by two individuals driving a Peugeot 3008 SUV who opened fire around 11:20 p.m. with an assault rifle. “Kalashnikov type”.

The perpetrators fled. “During their escape, the criminals had a material collision with a motorist who pursued them, until two passengers threatened him with their weapons.”the prosecutor said. Their vehicle was quickly found burned in the Grenoble area. At the scene, 19 7.62 caliber cartridges were found by investigators.
